About Us

What is a Community Foundation?

Community Foundations are independent, volunteer-driven, charitable organizations that aim to strengthen their communities by facilitating philanthropy, by partnering with donors to build permanent endowments and other funds from which they support community projects, and by providing leadership on issues of broad community concern.

History

Grand Bend Community Foundation was established in 2000 to administer $1.55 million from the sale of the Public Utilities Commission in Grand Bend. Under the leadership of Chair Hank Krech, the Foundation has grown in size and reach. It made its first grants in 2002 and has since granted nearly $800,000. The endowment fund has grown to almost $2 million.
