The Grand Bend Community Foundation Supports Local Projects with 2016 Grants.

The Grand Bend Community Foundation today announced more than $120,000 in grants for the 2016 year.  The grants support 20 different community projects that make a difference in the lives of both the seasonal and year-round residents of our communities.

Each year the Foundation is delighted to receive grant applications from local charities and non-profits who need support to achieve their goals. This year the Foundation received 28 grant applications, in areas ranging from arts and culture and healthcare, to education and the environment.

“Our grants committee worked hard to evaluate all the requests,” says Penny Nelligan, Chair of the Foundation’s Grants Committee. “Although we didn’t have the funds to meet all the requests, we were able to provide some level of funding to 20 organizations.”

Nelligan noted that the Grants Committee has a challenging job to determine where grants are needed most and will have the most impact. Projects that build on community as a whole, capacity in local charities and those that touch the lives of seniors and children and families are given priority, she explains.

“We are excited about this year’s grants,” says Nelligan. “We are thrilled to support these community innovators who are making life better for everyone.”
